The Manitowoc United JV hockey team is now in the win column.
The team took on Oshkosh Friday night at the Manitowoc County Ice Center and secured a 5-4 victory.
The Hawks would start the scoring, taking a 1-0 lead into the second period before United erupted to start the second.
Miles De Kok would tickle the twine just 27 seconds into the frame with a sniper shot off the draw from Benson Dickrell.
Then, just over a minute later, Ethan Christensen would pound home a loose puck for his first goal of the season, with assists from Jacob Wallander and Eli Romero.
The Hawks would knot it back up with six minutes left in the second, but Manitowoc would retake the lead a minute later, with De Kok’s second goal of the night, again from Dickrell, to take a 3-2 lead into intermission.
It wouldn’t stay that way for long, as Oshkosh would find the back of the net a minute and 16 seconds into the final frame, and would take the lead four minutes later.
United continued to play physical and aggressive in the offensive zone, leading to a Reed Neuser goal with just under five minutes to go.
Christensen would assist the equalizer. De Kok, not satisfied with two goals, would take a pass from Dickrell and would bury it with 2:39 on the clock.
The defense would tighten down, and United held on to pick up their first win of the season.
Goalie Dan Karlin would end the night with 11 saves on the night.
United has the week off, before returning to action next Friday when they travel to Green Bay to take on the Gryphons.
