Rachel L. Huebner, age 86 of Manitowoc, passed away on Thursday morning, December 28, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
The former Rachel Luce was born on December 10, 1937, in La Crosse, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Louise (Byer) Luce. She grew up on the family homestead in Houston, MN and was a graduate of Dr. Martin Luther College High School class of 1955. On June 21, 1959, Rachel was married to Ralph F. Huebner at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Onalaska. He preceded her in death on September 21, 2004.
Rachel taught school at St. John Ev. Elementary school in Newtonburg for two years. While raising her family she did substitute teaching in the Manitowoc School District. In 1977 Rachel began working at the Manitowoc Health Care Center as a Nurse’s Aid for eleven years followed by eleven years as a Dietary Aid. Throughout her years of employment, she worked as a Avon Representative. Rachel also helped out with the hot lunch program at Bethany Lutheran Grade School. She enjoyed many years of gardening in her yard. Rachel was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, and it’s Ladies Aid.
Survivors include her five children: Timothy (Susan) Huebner, Manitowoc, Rebecca (Kevin) Woodman, Manitowoc, Deborah Huebner, Manitowoc, Kathryn (Eugene) Rosera, Reedsville, Thomas (Melissa) Huebner, Mishicot; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister and brother-in-law: Paula (Glenn) Sonnenburg, Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Lloyd and Louise Luce; her husband: Ralph F. Huebner; one sister: Loraine Rimmert; one brother and sister-in-law; Michael (Carolyn) Luce.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on January 4th, 2024 at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church 3209 Meadow Lane in Manitowoc. The Rev. Stephen Melso will officiate with burial to follow at the Knollwood Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may call at the church on from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
