The future of the Lakeshore Mall Property in Manitowoc is still being decided by the city.
The Manitowoc Committee of the Whole didn’t take any action last night (January 3rd) after talking about the property in a closed session.
Alderman Steve Czekala was the acting council president last night and he told Seehafer News, “Because of all the legal ramifications that are involved with us blighting the property, we decided to take no action this evening. We’re going to let our city attorney work on things.”
He says when City Attorney Eric Nycz comes back with something more firm, then more action will be taken but that might not happen until March.
Czekala couldn’t talk about what specific legal things need to be done because they were talked about in closed session.
The city declared the Lakeshore Mall property “blighted” back in September after reports showed how dilapidated it’s been getting by sitting there with nothing being done.
