The Two Rivers Police Department will be purchasing two new police squad cars. The city council voted 6-2 to get the new SUV’s.
Police Chief Ben Meinnert says the two new vehicles will replace two other older vehicles that have reached the limit.
Council President Adam Wachowski voted not to allow the purchase because he was frustrated with how the city asked for new SUV police vehicles when the others were supposed to last longer.
Meinnert says the police department is only being offered SUVs as a squad car replacement.
City Manager Greg Buckley says the money for the squad cars is coming from internal borrowing from an available fund balance.
