A Green Bay woman is facing 72 years in prison after being arrested on thirteen charges after a string of checks were proven to be forged.
35-year-old Samantha Johnson is facing a total of eleven felony counts of Uttering a Forgery, Felony Fraud Against a Financial Institution, and Misdemeanor Fraud Against Financial Institution.
Police reports indicate that there were multiple instances where Johnson made out bad checks.
The first four were submitted over a two-day span in August of 2022 and totaled $3,350. She had allegedly opened up an account at a credit union in Green Bay around that time and tried to deposit the checks, which were supposedly written by a company.
Later that week, she was at it again, this time trying to cash five checks totaling $4,700, but again, they were deemed to have been altered.
Johnson also allegedly cashed checks mailed out by an undisclosed company that were not intended for her.
She was eventually caught using surveillance photos and video.
