The Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame has announced their Hall of Fame Class of 2024.
Steve Mirsberger’s true passion has been his work with the area’s tennis programs for nearly 50 years. He has served as President of The Manitowoc County Tennis Club since 1993 and continues to help some of the area’s top tennis players by giving them lessons to help them excel at their craft and continues to volunteer to work the clock and book at boys’ and girls’ basketball, football, volleyball, and cross-country events at Roncalli and Reedsville High Schools.
Lee Glaeser is a 1978 Valders High School Graduate who has coached and officiated at various youth levels. Glaeser has participated in Manitowoc County men’s softball and fastpitch leagues, along with various bowling leagues in Valders and Manitowoc. He has also served on The Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame Committee for 5 years and is a recipient of The Lakeshore All Sports Achievement Award.
Christine Shimek and Kristine Hanson are being inducted together and are being recognized for their achievements in many endeavors including volleyball and track and field. They coached Reedsville Track and Field together from 1987 to 2019, sending 86 qualifiers to state, 13 of which became state champions. Hanson was Head volleyball coach at Reedsville from 1989 to 2019, leading the Panthers to state in 2000, while Shimek has been a Master Level WIAA Volleyball Official the last 22 years. Both will retire at the end of this school year.
Pat Geigel has been involved in the development of local and area youth since 1982, teaching and coaching and officiating, plus serving in various administrative roles at New Holstein and Kiel High Schools until his retirement from Kiel High School in 2017. Geigel was named the first Varsity head Softball Coach at New Holstein High School in 1991 and was inducted into The Kenny’s Softball Hall of Fame in 2010. He received the Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame Achievement Award in 2013 and has served on The Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame Committee since 2018.
The 46th annual Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame Banquet will be held April 24th at City Limits in Manitowoc.
