A 21-year-old Manitowoc man who allegedly pointed a gun at students Wednesday afternoon has been officially charged.
Johnathan I. Gallegos is charged with Fleeing or Eluding an Officer, Simple Battery, Disorderly Conduct, Felony Bail Jumping, and Two Counts of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
Bail was set and posted at $300 cash along with $100 cash each set on three separate matters, of which warrants were out for Gallegos’ arrest.
Manitowoc Police were dispatched to the intersection of South 12th and Hamilton Streets on the report of a man (Gallegos) pulling a gun on someone and fleeing the scene.
Gallegos nearly hit another vehicle before coming to rest in the 1100 block of South 12th Street before fleeing on foot.
Individuals in the car told police that Gallegos had appeared to have pointed a rifle at two high school students and that he had punched one of them, who yelled at him in the car “multiple times” in the face.
Gallegos told officers that they were his brother’s “best friends” and were in a “Nerf War”, claiming his weapon was a “Nerf Gun.”
No evidence was found to substantiate Gallego’s claim, and he was booked into The County Jail.
The lone condition of bail is that he has “no contact” with the victim(s).” His initial appearance is scheduled for January 16th at 1:30.
