Volunteers are needed for this season’s Point in Time (PIT) homeless count.
From Wednesday, January 24th, at 11 p.m. until Thursday, January 25th, at 6 a.m., volunteers in 2-3 hour shifts will search for unsheltered individuals to provide them with resource information and hygiene products.
The goal of the event is to connect with these unsheltered neighbors and build relationships.
Across the nation, the PIT count is collected by service providers and community volunteers to provide an estimate of what homelessness looks like in each community.
This also helps the Department of Housing and Urban Development decide where to allocate housing funds.
