Two Eastern Wisconsin legislators have different views on the upcoming legislative district map change.
25th District Representative Paul Tittl of Manitowoc said on WOMT’s Be My Guest program Monday that changing maps is out of his control, and he’s not going to get bent over something he isn’t in charge of.
“Tell me where my boundaries are, and I will go, and I will work, and I will serve the people, and I will earn their vote,” he said.
However, De Pere State Senator Andre Jacque says the map change is frustrating because of the sudden change, and people aren’t going to know who’s going to represent them.
He said on the WCUB Breakfast Club that if a district map drawn by Governor Tony Ever’s Office is deemed acceptable, he would lose the city of Two Rivers in his district and pit him against three other state senators in another district race.
“The way I see it, I was elected to a four-year term in 2022 under valid lines, and so I’m going to certainly continue to represent everybody to the best of my ability,” he explains. “But who knows what the future will entail.”
Maps from the Wisconsin Assembly and Senate, along with other outside interest groups, have submitted maps to be considered by the Wisconsin Supreme Court. If the court doesn’t approve the maps submitted, they will draw their own.
