The jury has come back with a verdict in the Butch’s Bar fire case.
According to a report on WBAY TV in Green Bay, Anthony Gonzalez has been found guilty on all seven counts he was facing, including two counts of 2nd Degree Reckless Homicide.
Gonzalez was living in an apartment above the Sturgeon Bay bar when he spilled butane on his mattress.
Before cleaning it up, he lit a cigarette, which caught the mattress on fire and eventually destroyed the entire bar, killing two people.
His defense team tried to argue that the building was a “fire trap,” but the prosecution was able to successfully argue that Gonzalez’s actions were negligent.
Gonzalez is due back in court on May 10th for sentencing.
