Barbara L. Richter, age 86, entered eternal life on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.
Barbara was born on February 27, 1937 in Manitowoc. She was the daughter of the late Ottmar and Esther Weyer Mahnke. She attended Lincon High School and graduated with the class of 1955. On December 18, 1988 she married William I. Richter at First Reformed United Church of Christ in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on November 19, 2017. Barbara was a member of Peace United Church of Christ and the Manitowoc Yacht Club.
She is survived by four daughters, Donna (Jeff) Smith, Anchorage, AK, Denise (Jim) Spatt, Manitowoc, Debra Smith, Neenah, Doreen (Tony) Gabriel, Manitowoc, three grandchildren, Tabitha Kadow, Calvin and Gavin Smith, three great grandsons, one sister, Diane (John) Marquardt, Anchorage, AK, and one brother, Ralph (Rose Ann) Mahnke, Wisconsin Rapids, along with other relatives and special friend, Steven MacDonald, Manitowoc. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ottmar and Esther Mahnke, husband William Richter, two sons, Daniel and David Kadow.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Peace United Church of Christ, 3613 Waldo Blvd, Manitowoc with Rev. Dr. Matthew Sauer officiating. Relatives and friends may call at Peace United Church of Christ on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m. Following the funeral service a luncheon will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc. Relatives and friends will meet at the front entrance to Evergreen Cemetery on North 18th Street at 9:45 a.m. on Monday prior to going in procession to the grave site.
