Governor Tony Evers has signed into law a comprehensive package of five bills aimed at enhancing access to dental care in the state.
One of the bills legalizes the licensure of mid-level dental providers, known as dental therapists, with a focus on practicing in areas facing shortages and serving specific populations, including Medicaid patients and veterans.
Another approved measure allocates two million dollars from the 2023-2025 budget to the Wisconsin Technical College System for the expansion of dental hygienist and assistant programs.
