Lawmakers in Wisconsin are contemplating a proposal that would mandate convicted drunk drivers to pay child support to the families of their victims.
Republican State Senator Jesse James is championing “Bentley’s Law,” aiming to ensure financial compensation for families affected by such tragic incidents.
Several states, including Tennessee, Kentucky, Texas, and Maine, have already implemented similar laws. Senator James envisions Wisconsin joining this trend, holding intoxicated drivers accountable for child support if they cause the death of a parent in a drunk driving accident.
