The Manitowoc Lincoln Girls Softball program didn’t have to look far to find their new Head Coach.
Todd Meyer, a fastpitch coach with 15 years of experience, including deep connections to Lincoln High School and youth softball, will take over on an interim basis, succeeding Ashley Bauer, who stepped down due to family commitments.
A 1990 Lincoln graduate, Meyer had been most recently the JV-1 softball coach and has also skippered the Shipbuilders Fastpitch U-10, U-12, and U-14 teams.
Meyer has also served as Senior Fastpitch Commissioner on The Manitowoc County Youth Sports steering committee since 2020 and, in recent years, has been head coach of Newton’s Junior and Senior Fastpitch teams.
Lincoln Athletic Director Stan Diedrich says Meyer’s fast-paced, drill-oriented practices focus on positive reinforcement and teamwork.
In a news release from The School District, Meyer says, “I am excited for the opportunity to help our student-athletes and softball program grow. Generations of my family graduated from Lincoln, including my parents, wife, and two daughters.”
The Ships open their season at Fond Du Lac on March 29th, with their home opener scheduled for April 2nd against Sheboygan North.
