Some northeastern Wisconsin organizations are getting a share of $1.5 million in grants from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection for the Wisconsin Local Food Purchase Assistance Program.
Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin in Appleton will use the money to get food on behalf of all 11 federally recognized Tribes in the state, including distribution in Milwaukee County for the Tribal Elder Food Box Program.
Wello Inc. of Green Bay will use the funds to support the expansion of the Cultivating Community Healthy Food Access Program.
In Seymour, they will use the money to expand the aggregation and distribution of local and organic meat, eggs, and ground cherries.
The press release from the DATCP didn’t say how much each group is getting but says it will be between $30,000 and $300,000.
