The Manitowoc community has been very generous in helping an organization after an unfortunate theft in December.
Ascend Services Inc., which serves youth and adults with disabilities, had a catalytic converter stolen from their truck, causing a strain on their production transportation services.
Executive Director Deanna Genske says the community rallied with donations and offers to assist, including other organizations offering to lend their vehicles and give a monetary donation, which helped cover the cost of replacing the converter on their tru
It cost between $11,000 and $16,000 because the thieves did some damage to the truck’s underside.
With the truck now fixed, Ascend has also been able to do some security camera upgrades, including some better lighting, and could include some security camera upgrades in the future.
Unfortunately, after reviewing other camera footage, they were not able to produce anything that would pinpoint who was responsible.
