Dennis Lynn Lochmann, age 79, of Valders, WI, passed into eternal life on February 10, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers. He was a beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Dennis was born on March 30, 1944, to Robert A. and Eunice V. (Greenwald) Lochmann. Dennis attended Holy Innocents Catholic School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1962. He continued his education at Lakeshore Technical College, graduating in 1967 with an associate degree in Machine Design.
He married Sharalyn (Shari) Brunner at St. Paul’s Catholic Church on July 15, 1967. Together, they raised three children, Jeffrey, Gregory, and Lynda. Dennis and Shari celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary last summer.
Dennis started his career at Manitowoc Engineering and later worked at Tecumseh Products in New Holstein and Briggs & Stratton in Milwaukee. After retiring from engineering, he purchased the Pizza Garden from its original owners, the Bilotti family. The restaurant became an important part of his life, and he especially enjoyed the many friendships it brought him. After 18 years of ownership, Dennis retired (again) in 2012.
He also owned Lochmann’s Train Group for over 50 years, sharing his passion and talent of building and detailing model trains with other model railroading enthusiasts. He was honored to have been featured in the July 1976 edition of Model Railroader magazine showcasing his extensive work commemorating the nation’s bicentennial.
Dennis enjoyed traveling with friends and family, frequently sharing memories of his favorite vacations. He was well-known for his elaborate storytelling, making you feel like you experienced the moment firsthand. Some of his most frequently told stories were of his trips to Puerto Vallarta, Hawaii, Glacier National Park, and Crivitz, Wisconsin, where he and Shari spent many weekends with their lifelong friends, the late Ron and Kaye Schwalbe. Other favorite pastimes included sharing countless hours with his fishing buddy, Al Burkart, attending the Iola car show and EAA Air Venture, and playing board games with his family. We will especially miss his unique sense of humor and ability to always make us laugh.
Survivors include his wife, Shari, three children: Jeff (Renee) Lochmann, Middleton; Greg Lochmann, Manitowoc; Lynda Lochmann, Sheboygan; four grandchildren: RJ (Jessica) Lochmann, Waunakee; Alex (Brittany) Lochmann, Madison; Sydney Lochmann, Manitowoc; Jared Lochmann, Madison; and three great-grandchildren: Thomas, Arya, and Tina. He is also survived by his siblings: Barbara Lochmann, Manitowoc; David (Marianne) Lochmann, Manitowoc; Chris Lochmann, Manitowoc; one uncle: Fritz Greenwald, Springfield, IL; and one aunt, Catherine Greenwald, Manitowoc. He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert and Eunice Lochmann; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Clarence and Myrtle (Lake) Brunner; two uncles: Daniel Greenwald and Rev. Alfred Greenwald, and one aunt, Rita Greenwald.
