Raymond L. Valenta, age 88, of rural Two Rivers, passed away Saturday afternoon, February 10, 2024, with family at his side, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.
Raymond was born on August 26, 1935, in Two Rivers, a son of the late Frank and Josephine (Bolz) Valenta. He attended Mishicot Public Schools. On June 22, 1957, he married Patricia Funk at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Two Rivers, she preceded him in death on August 13, 2021.
Ray worked at Hamilton Industries for 44 years, retiring in 1997. Ray was an avid sportsman, he enjoyed fishing, trapping, and hunting; and raised fox, geese, pheasants and peacocks. He enjoyed getting together with family and friends for sheepshead and conversation and loved the time spent with family and visiting with friends.
Survivors include his five sons and three daughters-in-law: Steve Valenta, Greg (Kerri) Valenta, and Dan (Julie) Valenta, all of Two Rivers, Jeff (Terri) Valenta of Jackson and Patrick Valenta of Waupun; six grandchildren: Jessica (Matt) Bruce, Emily (Chris) Spencer, Hunter Valenta (special friend, Ciara), Landon (Tonya) Valenta, Breanna Posvic-Valenta (special friend, Bryce) and Katelyn Valenta; seven great grandchildren: Jack, Liam and Emma Bruce, Tobin, Will, Jaxon and Graham Spencer. He is further survived by four brothers: Ben (Nancy) Valenta, Francis (Rita) Valenta and Jim Valenta, all of Mishicot and Richard (Carol) Valenta of Florida; one sister: Mary Lou Rocheleau of Florida; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Gary (Nancy) Tomchek of Manitowoc, Paul Funk and John (Sandy) Kleckner of Two Rivers, Peggy Krejcarek of Mishicot, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Ray and Marie Funk; brother and sister-in-law: Jerome (Marilyn) Valenta; three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Ken Krejcarek, Bill Rocheleau, John (Liz) Peltier and Diane Funk.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 423 S Main St., Mishicot. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Christian Raj, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mishicot.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. There will be no Friday evening visitation. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.dejamartin.com.
