The Valders Girls Basketball Team concludes the regular season tonight with a chance to claim a share of the EWC title.
The Vikings travel to Sheboygan Falls to battle the state-ranked Falcons, and Valders Head Coach Eric Otto tells Seehafer Sports that’s all he and his team could ask for.
“That was our goal at the beginning of the season. Just take it one game at a time. We knew that Falls was the team to beat at the beginning of the season, and we were just hoping for the opportunity to knock them off the last game of the season to have a chance to win a conference title.”
Sheboygan Falls is 13 and 0 in the EWC, 21 and 2 overall, while Valders is 12 and 1 in the league and 19 and 4 on the season.
Their lone loss in the conference came January 23rd to Falls 42 to 30, where the Lady Vikes’ shot just 22 percent from the field.
They only attempted two free throws all game compared to 19 for the Falcons, and 6’3’’ junior center Addison Schliewe scored 23 of their 42 points.
Otto says if they are to deny Falls the outright conference crown, they must defend without fouling and put more pressure on the ball to deny entry to Schliewe, where she can inflict major damage in the paint.
Tonight’s game starts at 7 p.m.
