Catherine Green, who has been at the helm of The Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc since 2018, has announced she’ll be stepping down this spring.
A news release from The Museum states that Green has accepted a similar position with the National Maritime Historical Society in New York state.
Green led several ambitious initiatives that has enhanced the museum’s impact and reach, including spearheading the ongoing fundraising campaign, and planning to drydock USS Cobia for maintenance in 2025 and Phase One remodeling of the Museum property at Franklin Street into The Maritime Heritage Center.
Green was also instrumental in The Wisconsin Maritime Museum’s transfer of The Klopp collection of over 10,000 salvaged artifacts into the museum’s care.
Board of Trustees President Jeff Sabel says, “We are thankful for Cathy’s dedication and commitment to The Wisconsin Maritime Museum. Her guidance and passion have been instrumental in shaping the museum’s direction and growth.”
No exact date for Green’s departure was given. Current Deputy Director Kevin Cullen will assume the role of interim Executive Director as the board conducts its search for Green’s replacement.
