One of Manitowoc County and the city of Manitowoc’s biggest road projects will get underway next week.
County Highway Commissioner Greg Grotegut says County Highway R, from Waldo Blvd to County Highway P will be getting reconstructed starting on March 11th.
That means parts of the road will be closed for some time.
The project includes grading, base aggregate, concrete pavement, storm sewer, culvert pipe, asphaltic surface, curb and gutter, landscaping, and pavement marking.
Thru traffic will only be allowed to go southbound in a single land configuration while northbound traffic will be detoured as the Waldo Blvd intersection west of Interstate 43 north to Highway 310 west to County Highway R.
Two-way traffic will be maintained from Waldo Blvd to Wildwood for access to Manitowoc Lutheran High School until the school year is finished.
County Highway P will also be closed at the intersection of P and County Highway R during construction.
Grotegut finishes by saying businesses and residences will be contacted 24 hours in advance of any interruption of driveway access.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of August of this year.
