An eastern Wisconsin state senator now running for Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District calls the move the next step to serve his constituents.
De Pere Republican State Senator Andre Jacque announced this on a radio show yesterday morning and called Seehafer News yesterday afternoon to confirm it.
While he feels he was targeted during Wisconsin’s recent map redistricting, he would have landed on the decision to run for Congress anyway.
“It certainly helps though that rather than having to have a split in which constituents I’m going to be supporting, I’m going to hopefully have a better platform to represent more people,” he exclaimed.
While it certainly will be a challenge to run in the district, he wants to give it all he’s got to get it.
At the federal level, Jacque says paperwork bogs down some critical issues, including government spending.
He also sees immigration at the border as issues that must be addressed.
But one of the first things he wants to do if elected is to get Dylan’s Law passed.
Jacque explained “With the lives we’ve already been able to save in Wisconsin and surrounding states, there’s no reason we why we can’t try and encourage that nationwide.”
Dylan’s Law allows anyone, including schools, to carry an EpiPen, which reverses the effects of allergic reactions.
Dylan was a Mishicot student who died from an undiagnosed bee sting.
Jacque is running against former Republican State Senator Roger Roth, who announced his candidacy after Mike Gallagher announced he’s not running for the 8th district seat.
No Democrats have announced their candidacy for the seat.
