A man accused of stabbing his brother multiple times in Neenah is not competent to stand trial.
According to Fox 11, 26-year-old Darnell McCauley could not understand the proceedings or assist in his defense and, therefore, couldn’t have his case go to trial.
He still could go to trial if he regains competency after psychiatric treatment.
In December last year, a woman found McCauley allegedly stabbing the victim at least 18 times after she thought an argument over a cigar was settled.
The victim had injuries to their neck, head, shoulders, and back.
McCauley apparently told police he was acting in self-defense and that his brother was the one who had a knife.
There are no future court dates set, but McCauley is still charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide.
