Suspects in the case of the missing 3-year-old Elijah Vue, Katrina Baur, and Jesse Vang made another court appearance via video from the Manitowoc County Jail.
Manitowoc County Circuit Judge Robert Dewane denied the reduction in bail request for the mother of Elijah, Katrina Baur.
Katrina’s Mother, Jody Baur, read a letter during the proceeding. The letter asked the Court not to grant any bail modifications and stated that Katrina has connections in other states.
Judge Dewane also noted that Baur was not cooperating with law enforcement in this case, which was another reason for the denial of bail reduction.
Manitowoc County District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre also added that Baur’s charges have been modified to chronic neglect of a child as a party to a crime.
Jesse Vang, Elijah Vue’s caregiver, then made an appearance via video from the Manitowoc County jail. Vang has not retained an attorney in this case, and Judge Dewane said he may qualify for a public defender.
Vang then tried to file a motion for bail reduction.
Judge Dewane asked the defendant to write his request, and the court would consider the reduction on March 14th at 11 am.
Judge Dewane also admonished the public in attendance, saying no T-shirts for missing persons should be worn in the courtroom.
Going forward, T-shirts are not allowed in the courtroom, and anyone in attendance wearing one will be escorted out of the proceedings.
