A 38-year-old Manitowoc man had bail set at $500 cash Monday afternoon for threatening to kill others early last Saturday morning.
Demetrius L. Norton has been charged with Disorderly Conduct, Resisting an Officer, Obstructing an Officer, and Threats to Law Enforcement.
Police responded to a call for help at The Manitowoc Place Apartments after the caller to M.P.D. stated that someone was going to kill them and that children were inside.
Officers heard Norton yelling profanities and threatening to shoot anyone who approached him.
He retreated to his residence with police setting up a perimeter around the apartment complex, holding their positions awaiting the arrival of The Manitowoc County SWAT Team.
They, along with K-9 Riley, eventually lured Norton out. He was arrested, taken to the hospital, and booked into The County Jail.
It was determined that 10 to 15 gunshots had been fired in the area. but none at any door or window. No one was hurt.
The conditions of bail are that Norton has “no contact” with the victim and maintains “absolute sobriety.”
He remains in The County Jail, and his initial appearance is scheduled for March 18th at 1:30.
