Eight organizations, including one in Sheboygan County, are getting grant money through the Wisconsin DATCP Wisconsin Farm to School Program.
Nourish Farms Inc. is an expanding farm-to-school program in the Sheboygan Falls, Sheboygan, and Plymouth School Districts.
The grant money will increase food literacy for 600 additional students and increase access to field trips and programs for three area low-income schools, garden infrastructure repair, and deepen school stakeholder engagement.
DATCP Secretary Randy Romanski says that with the grants, the awarded organizations can foster new partnerships and implement procurement efforts far beyond the grant cycle.
A total of $250,000 will be awarded through the program, although the announcement doesn’t say how much each organization will get.
Other organizations receiving money include the Mauston, Eleva-Strum, Hayward School Districts, and other farm-to-school-based cooperatives.
