The City of Sheboygan is one of twelve communities around the state to receive a grant aimed at planting more trees.
The city is set to receive $5,000 from Alliant Energy’s One Million Trees initiative to help repopulate county parks with trees.
Alliant created the One Million Trees initiative as a nod to their roughly one million utility customers.
To date, over 463,000 trees have been planted throughout Eastern Iowa and central to southeast Wisconsin, thanks to the help of countless volunteers.
David de Leon, the President of Alliant Energy’s Wisconsin energy company, said the Community Tree Planting program grants “will help these Wisconsin communities achieve tree restoration goals, improve energy efficiency, and provide environmental benefits for generations to come.”
