Governor Evers has vetoed a measure aimed at exempting 14 and 15-year-olds from needing work permits.
The decision means that younger teenagers will still require authorization to pursue summer employment.
Evers argued that the proposal would have weakened protections for minors and was not conducive to the state’s economy.
Despite advocacy from business groups and Republican lawmakers citing a need to fill numerous job vacancies, individuals in this age group will still need both state permits and parental consent to secure employment opportunities.
