The Manitowoc Lincoln Girls Soccer team recently began their season and is looking forward to a solid year.
So far, the squad is 2-1 after an 8-1 win over Denmark last night (April 9th).
Coach Ethan Jones has been the head coach at Lincoln for the last two years.
His overall goal for the team and as a coach is to have a winning season.
Though winning does take skill, Jones believes that the team’s ability to work together is just as important.
“Teamwork is huge. Without a team, we’d be nothing,” he said, “We can’t do anything on the field without passing the ball, and we need to be able to be a team on the field as well as off the field and just create that great bond and relationship.”
While speaking with Senior Abby Neuens, she expressed how she believes that the team will be the best it has ever been this year, with a hopeful outlook on a winning season.
With soccer being a team heavy sport, it is easy to place value on the group as a whole, however, Jones has always been fond of seeing the girls grow individually, stating that the creation of players is always a point of excitement.
Jones said he loves “Seeing players grow on the field, seeing them be able to dribble the ball better, seeing them score a goal, just the excitement of the whole game itself, really.”
The Manitowoc Lincoln Girls Soccer team will play against Appleton West on the road on Thursday, April 11th.
