The Two Rivers City Plan Commission met Monday evening in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
City Manager Greg Buckley says preliminary discussions were held regarding possible amendments to be made to Tax Incremental District 12 downtown.
He told Seehafer News, “The amendment that’s been initiated would provide for possible direct grants to assist with a couple of business expansions that are near the district.”
Buckley also explained that the district was originally created in 2019 to help finance the Cobblestone Hotel and Suites downtown.
“We’ve got a couple of businesses looking at an investment of about $1.8 million in their projects, which is exciting,” he said. “We’ve also got some possible property acquisitions for blight elimination around that TID.”
The Two Rivers City Manager says they are looking at recommending amendments to the zoning codes that would create an overlay to the downtown and waterfront districts, specific to TID 12.
Buckley said that would include “Things like a restriction or prohibition on any new mini-warehouse type storage in the downtown or waterfront areas, along with some other changes related to the design of new projects.”
Discussion is likely to continue, and possible action taken are likely at their May monthly meeting.
