The Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Association has recognized Maddux Wendling of Valders as a first-team academic all-state grappler.
The Vikings senior earned his second such honor, compiling a record of 57 and 4 and finishing runner-up in the Division Three-120-pound weight class at this year’s State Individual Wrestling meet in Madison.
He also placed fourth in the state as a junior.
Wendling leaves his mark as one of the most accomplished wrestlers in Viking history as he was a three-time state qualifier and two-time sectional champion, finishing his career with a record of 157 wins and 24 losses.
