Donna Marie Specht, 93, of Manitowoc passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024 at Harbor View Assisted Living.
Donna was born on February 6, 1931, in Two Rivers to the late Elmer and Elsie (Kickbusch) Landt. She was a 1948 graduate of Washington High School in Two Rivers. On April 25, 1953, she married Walter Specht at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Two Rivers. He preceded her in death on September 17, 2021. Donna was a dedicated and devoted wife and mother, once the kids were grown, she worked at Weight Watchers and was a secretary at Kelvinator for 15 years.
Donna was a member of First German Lutheran Church. She was the Past President of the Amvets Auxiliary and the Past President of the 3rd District Amvets Auxiliary. Over the years, she and Walter spent numerous hours volunteering at the VA Hospitals and clinics and raising money for the Avenue of Flags at the VA Clinic in Appleton. Donna loved every holiday, especially Christmas and looked forward to putting up the Christmas village with the grandchildren. After retirement, she and Walter enjoyed traveling, particularly their trip to Hawaii and seeing Pearl Harbor, trips they took with her sister, Dorothy and the bus trips they took with Audrey’s Travel.
Donna is survived by her children: Jeffrey (Germaine) Specht, Judy (Terry) Sleger, Rick Specht, and Nancy (Monte) Miller; daughter-in-law: Amy Specht; six grandchildren: Erin (Dave) Rocklewitz, Jacob (Emily) Sleger, Amy (Jake) Merten, Katie (Dylan) Temme, Zach Specht, and Ryan (fiancé Sheridan Grosshuesch) Specht; six great-grandchildren: Colin Sleger, Jackson Sleger, Evan Rocklewitz, Harper Temme, Hailey Temme, and Hudson Temme; sister: Dorothy Nielson; and brother-in-law: David Kielgas. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Donna was preceded in death by her parents: Elmer Landt and Elsie and Frank Bunzow; husband: Walter; son: Greg Specht; sisters; brothers, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
A funeral service to celebrate Donna’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Lakeshore Life Celebration Center (Peace UCC 3613 Waldo Blvd.) with Rev. Jacob Hoff officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at the church from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Donna will be laid to rest at Forest View Cemetery in Two Rivers.
