The Manitowoc Lutheran track season is well underway.
Head coach Abby Bubolz has been involved in the sport for a number of years, participating in the sport throughout high school, however she had been exposed to the world of coaching while watching and competing with her father as her coach.
After the pandemic, many sports teams suffered a loss of numbers, for Manitowoc Lutheran this was a theme, however, this year numbers have increased exponentially.
“My numbers for our program are really good. We have the most kids that we’ve had in a really long time,” she explained. “We’ve got 71 athletes, and what that means at this level is that we can pretty much fill out every event, and at the D3 level, if you’re getting kids in each event and hopefully scoring in each event, generally, you can finish pretty well as a team”.
Despite being an ex-competitor, Coach Bubolz has found that her love of the sport has only grown since becoming a coach.
“Honestly, I like track more as a coach than I did as an athlete because there’s just so many things to constantly learn,” she told Seehafer News. “I think that’s kind of the fun thing about is there’s always things for me to learn, and there’s always things for the athletes to learn because there are so many moving pieces.”
The Manitowoc Lutheran Track Team will be in Brillion for a meet today (April 26th).
