Bonita Ann Zipperer, 85, of Manitowoc was called home on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the Villas at Felician Village.
Bonita was born on July 16, 1938 at Holy Family Hospital in Manitowoc to the late Rudolph Victor and Helen (Lawler) Walters. She was a 1956 graduate of Lincoln High School. She met the love of her life, Jerome Zipperer and was married on August 23, 1958, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Bonita was an office clerk at Northern Labs for 32 years, until her retirement in 1999.
Bonita’s priorities in life were her faith, family and friends. She always had an open door with dishes filled with candy, homemade meals with fresh baked bread and dinner rolls. Bonita also enjoyed camping, gambling and trips with her longtime girlfriends.
Bonita is survived by her children: Russell (Carrie) Zipperer, Cato, Debra (Ted) Rathsack, Manitowoc, and Laurie (David) Radke, Oconto Falls; 6 grandchildren: Justin Zipperer, Tyler (Alyssa) Zipperer, Karissa Hamoy (special friend Brad), Adam (Tessa) Rathsack, Jerrod (Kerri) Rathsack, and Tad (Kati) Taggart; 5 great-grandchildren; one sister: Victoria Jeske, Manitowoc; and one brother and sister-in-law: Randy (Teresa) Walters, Manitowoc. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bonita was preceded in death by her parents: Rudolph Victor and Helen Walters; husband: Jerome Zipperer; one sister and two brothers-in-law: Marilyn & Jerome King; Daniel Jeske, Sr.; and one nephew Daniel Jeske, Jr.
Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc and a Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo (1121 N. 14th Street). Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Doug LeCaptain with burial of her remains to follow services at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the services at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be donated to Bonita’s favorite charities.
