There’s a new team on top after the 2024 Wisconsin Civic Games in Madison last week.
Demark High School’s team took first place after beating 18 other teams from 15 other schools.
What’s more impressive is that it’s Demark’s first trip to the finals. The winning team, advised by social studies teacher Zack Olson, was comprised of Henry Pahlow (captain), Lydia Flanigan, Ben Lindsley, Aiden Nelsen, Collin Trepanier, and Cherry Weis.
Each will be awarded $2,000 scholarships to a Wisconsin college or university of their choice.
Other high schools that participated included Green Bay Preble and New London.
While answering questions about government, students also heard from state representatives, including Gov. Ever, State Superintendent Jill Underly, and members of the Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation.
