Big Brothers Big Sisters WI Shoreline has been recognized by the national organization as a recipient of the 2023 Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Growth Award.
The prestigious award recognizes the hard work of agency leadership, staff, and “Big” mentors to provide high-quality programming and mentorship for the children served by the organization.
CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters WI Shoreline Denise Wittstock expressed the organization’s passion for helping children in the community reach their full potential, with evidence showing that their mentor program leads to positive outcomes for youth.
Agencies that receive the Growth Award have shown growth in several key categories, including the total number of children served in matches between mentors, called “Bigs,” and children, called “Littles.”
BBBS WI Shoreline will be formally recognized during a national conference, scheduled for June 10th in Dallas.
The recognition comes just after BBBS WI Shoreline wrapped their inaugural “A Match Made at Dinner” fundraiser gala presented by The Vollrath Company.
Held April 27th at Nourish Farms, the gala exceeded expectations with a keynote address by Green Bay Packers Quarterback, and former Big Brother, Sean Clifford.
Several mentors were recognized at the event for their service to the community.
Big Sister Nancy Wagner, Vice President – Business Process and Intelligence at The Vollrath Company, earned the Lifetime Achievement Award for 30 years of service as a mentor to young women in our community.
“Big” mentor couple Barry and Kay Blatz were also welcomed into the Quarter Century Club for 25 years of service as mentors.
Maggie Hernandez, was also recognized as Community Volunteer of the Year by the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce Best 40 Under 40 Awards.
