Grow it Forward and Harmony Café & Juicery, located in downtown Manitowoc, are a local non-profit organization on a mission to help the hungry locally.
Running a non-profit organization comes with many challenges, obstacles, and ups and downs.
During the height of the pandemic, many were getting surplus benefits from the government and donating them to pantries, shelters, and different non-profits throughout the community.
This was a high point for Grow it Forward financially and with their resources to feed anyone in need.
There were also many programs and grants available to them, along with government commodities.
But, moving into 2021, many of the programs and grants from the previous year started backing out, and donations dwindled by 35%.
Along with this also came increased inflation rates, prices on many goods and services went up anywhere from 25% to 40%.
With the combination of fewer donations and higher prices on goods and services, Grow it Forward is always open to public donations to help make up that difference.
To help support the non-profit on its mission to provide people in need with good food, visit Grow54220.com, their headquarters on 1501 Marshall Street, or dine at the Harmony Café & Juicery.
Every dollar purchased by a customer provides three meals to anyone in need in the community.
