Edward W. Wallander Jr., age 93, of Manitowoc, died on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Harbor View Assisted Living, Manitowoc.
Edward was born at home on May 21, 1930, in rural Reedsville, son of the late Edward and Theresa (Riederer) Wallander Sr. He attended local area schools. On December 2, 1950 Edward was married to the former Lucille M. Sauer at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville. He worked as a Machinist at Imperial Eastman retiring in 1996 after forty-six years of employment and hobby farmed in the town of Manitowoc Rapids. Edward was a former member of St. Joseph Parish at Alverno and a current member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and in the past served the congregation as an Eucharistic Minister and Stewardship Proclaimer. He enjoyed hobby farming and was a former 4H Leader.
Survivors include his wife: Luci Wallander, Manitowoc; his children and their spouses: Edward J. (Linda) Wallander III, Manitowoc, Karen (John) Fessler, Manitowoc, Dean (Linda) Wallander, Whitelaw, Mark Wallander, Mountain Home, AR, Chris (Carrie) Wallander, Manitowoc; twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Laura Braun, Manitowoc; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law include: Janice Wallander, AZ, Ann Flatley, NC, Jan (Dick) Szalewski, Manitowoc, Andy (Linda) Sauer, KS, Bob Brunner, AL, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Theresa Wallander Sr.; one daughter and son-in-law: Mary (Gary) Konarski; one infant son; one granddaughter: Jill Wallander; one daughter-in-law: Bette Wallander; two infant brothers; five brothers and five sisters-in-law: Mike (Pauline) Wallander, Bernie (Lois) Wallander, Robert (Elaine) Wallander, Tom Wallander, Al (Sue) Wallander, Char Brunner; three sisters and five brothers-in-law: Delores (Hal) Schuh, Marie (Joe) Johanek, Rita (Chuck) McKiel, Tony Braun, Mike Flatley; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Raymond and Agnes Sauer.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 31, 2024 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 8100 Brunner Road, Newton. The Rev. David Beaudry will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial of his cremated remains at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alverno at a later date. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
