The Manitowoc Lincoln Baseball team defeated The Neenah Rockets by a score of 4 to 3 in a WIAA Division One Sectional Semifinal played at E.J. Schneider Field in Oshkosh.
Neenah would grab the lead in the top of the first inning, only to see the Ships take the lead in the second.
Evan Vogt would knock in a run with a double, and Benson Dickrell added an RBI groundout to put the Ships on top.
Neenah would regain the lead in the fourth,3 to 2, and it stayed that way until the bottom of the seventh when the Ships tied the game at 3 to send it into extra innings.
Both teams had their chances to win the game in the eighth, as Neenah had the bases loaded with nobody out and failed to score.
The Ships had runners at first and second with one out in the bottom of the eighth, but couldn’t score. Neenah went 1-2-3 in the top of the ninth, with the Ships scoring a run in the bottom half to win and advance to The Sectional Final later this afternoon.
Noah Wech won in relief from starter Brayden Steinbecker, who pitched the first four innings. Wech threw the final five innings and did not allow a run.
The Ships improve to 23 and 4 and will face Menasha in the Sectional Final later this afternoon. The Bluejays defeated top seed Hartford 5 to 1 earlier today to advance.
The winner punches their ticket to The WIAA State Baseball Tournament next Monday in Grand Chute.
