June is Dairy Month and with that comes Manitowoc County’s Breakfast on the Farm.
The event will happen this Sunday (June 9) starting at 8:00 a.m. and runs until noon at Libertyland Farms in Valders.
Breakfast on the Farm is an event that attempts to bring the county together to raise money, educate on dairy farming, and celebrate the dairy industry as a whole.
There will be a plethora of activities happening on Sunday. These will include kid’s games, educational tents, barn tours, and much more.
The educational side is geared towards teaching about modern dairy farming operations such as robotic cow-milking and fully automated tractors.
New this year is a can drive supporting the county’s food pantries.
Angie Ulness, an Agricultural Educator, joined WOMT’s Be My Guest Program to tell us more.
“They’re having a can drive and that food along with the can drive is going to be donated to the pantries here in Manitowoc County,” Ulness said. “She went on to explain, “And also if you do bring a canned item, you’re going to be registered to win one of four $25 gift certificates to Fleet Farm.”
Entertainment for the event will see the 2/5th Party Band performing. Additionally, the new Miss Farm Bureau and Dairy Princess will be crowned on Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
Both the live music and crowning will take place on the main stage. With heavy rains throughout the week parking for Breakfast on the Farm is subject to change.
“If we get too much rain also watch, there will be some parking at the Wisconsin Farm Discovery Center and then shuttle from there,” Ulness explained. “She continued, saying, “Just be mindful that it has been really soggy with a lot of rain. We want to make sure that if we park in that field, that the field can support those cars.”
Libertyland Farms is located at 11665 Newton Road in Valders, make sure to check the Breakfast in the Farm Facebook page to confirm directions and parking details for any changes that have occurred.
