The 18-year-old Pittsfield man charged with shooting another teen for egging his house has pled not guilty.
NBC 26 reports that the alleged shooter, Jackson Rego, appeared in person at the Brown County Courthouse for his plea hearing.
Criminal complaints state that Rego told officers he grabbed his AR-15 following the egging to fire a warning shot.
He thought he was shooting this round at the ground to scare off the kids.
However, the shot ended up hitting a 16-year-old boy in the stomach who was standing out of a car’s sunroof.
Rego is facing three felony charges, including first-degree reckless injury.
His bond is set at $100,000 after a judge denied Rego’s request for it to be lowered.
Rego is due back in court on July 23.
