The legendary Schmitt Brothers Quartet will be honored this summer with a barbershop concert in Two Rivers’ Central Park.
The event, “Harmony Lives on the Schmitt Brothers Stage,” is scheduled for July 20th.
The concert will feature numerous barbershop quartets including Harmony To Go, Barber Pops, Encore, Jukebox and Pass Da Buck as well as the Clipper City Chordsmen chorus.
Grow It Forward will host a food stand with burgers, brats, hot dogs, and beverages, while representatives of the Washington House Museum will scoop ice cream cones.
Central Park has a significance for the Schmitt family, as that is where Jim, Joe, Paul and Fran were welcomed home after their win at the 1951 Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America competition.
Following the outstanding success of the barbershop show at the Schmitt Brothers Stage dedication last summer, organizers would like to make this an annual event dedicated to the spirit of harmony that the Schmitt brothers worked so hard to nurture everywhere they performed during their 35-year career.
The Schmitt Brothers Stage is the first and only stage in the country dedicated to a barbershop quartet.
