Walter Stenzel Jr., age 86, a Valders resident, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.
He was born July 11, 1937 son of the late Walter and Florence (King) Stenzel Sr. Walter attended Valders High School, graduating with the class of 1955. On March 28, 1964, he married Lorraine M. Zutz at Grace Lutheran Church, Valders. She preceded him in death on February 4, 2024. Walter was employed at Spancrete for over 40 years until his retirement. He was a lifelong member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 139 and a member of the Oneida Nation. He enjoyed vintage cars and would attend the Iola Car show every year. He also enjoyed Brewer games and trips to the casino. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
Walter is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Terry and Karen Stenzel; his daughter and son-in-law: Tammy and Dennis Karstaedt; four grandchildren: Stephanie (Ted) Wagner, Justin Stenzel, Lauren Stenzel (special friend Zachary Zepnick), and Emma Karstaedt; two great-granddaughters: Iris and Isla Wagner; three brothers: Chuck (Darlene) Stenzel, Bill (Laurie) Stenzel, Jim (Sue) Stenzel; brothers-in-law: William (Elaine) Zutz Jr. and Dick Lodel; sisters-in-law: Carol Zutz and Nancy Baumann; and his faithful companion: Hannah. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by wife: Lorraine; his parents: Walter and Florence Stenzel Sr.; siblings: David Stenzel, Geraldine (Lloyd) Free, Edward (Elaine) Stenzel, Elmer (Carol) Stenzel, and Joyce Lodel; father-in-law and mother-in-law: William and Laurina (Nass) Zutz Sr., brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Aubrey (Gladys) Zutz, Annabelle (Thomas) Ebenhoe, Orlan (Laverne) Zutz, Teddy Zutz, and Marlene (Luther) Cook; as well as other relatives and friends.
Private family services have been held and Walter was laid to rest at Valders West Cemetery, Valders.
