Eastern Wisconsin’s representative in Congress has a few issues with some topics related to the military.
6th District Congressman Glenn Grothman, the Chairman of the Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs, appeared on the WCUB Breakfast Club recently.
He spoke about the issues the armed forces are having with an aircraft known as the Osprey.
“We had a horrific number of accidents over the last few years,” he said. “We had 50 servicemen die in training exercises. Not in combat.”
The representative from Glenbeluah explained that the subcommittee heard from the military regarding these incidents, but Grothman said he didn’t like what he heard.
“I really don’t feel the military adequately explained how we could have lost 50 troops,” Grothman said. “We will be following up on that.”
Grothman also commented on the Biden Administration’s push for equity and diversity in the armed forces.
“The Democrats made it clear they feel…that we have too many white people in positions of power in the military, and they want to hire bureaucrats to kind of monitor who is getting promoted,” he said. “I think we ought to just have the best people.”
Congressman Grothman did note that the House of Representatives has a Republican majority while the Senate is “run by the Democrats”, and that “We will have to see what happens when we negotiate with the Democrats.”
