The Manitowoc Historical Society has received a Joint Effort Marketing (JEM) Grant from Travel Wisconsin.
On Friday (June 20), David Spiegelberg, Regional Tourism Specialist of Travel Wisconsin, was present at The Pinecrest Historical Village.
While there, he presented Amy Meyer and the Historical Society with a check for $2,500 to support their Maker’s Market event.
When asked what the money will go towards, Meyer said,
“We can take the word of what Maker’s Market is going to do and what it can mean at a broader level. So its for, specifically, marketing outside of our area right here.”
She went on to say the hubs they are focusing on to spread the word of what they are trying to accomplish include Michigan, Minnesota, and Northern Illinois.
The JEM Grant supports events throughout the state, and any business or event-holders may apply.
When speaking on the JEM Grant Program, Spiegelberg said their JEM Grant committee loved the Maker’s Market project.
He also explained what he hopes to see come from the grant for the Historical Society,
“You can think of JEM dollars as seed money for special events and tourism projects in Wisconsin. So, ideally, these dollars will help the Historical Society going forward carrying this event and experience for many more years.”
You can experience the Maker’s Market event and see just why they received this grant next weekend, June 29 and 30, at the Manitowoc County Historical Society located at 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc.
