Lakeshore Technical College hosted AI for Higher Education, an event centered on introducing Artificial Intelligence to colleges and universities.
On Tuesday (June 25), the campus played host to well over 100 professors, faculty, and administrators from technical colleges and universities throughout the state.
This event aimed to educate and guide these individuals working in higher education on how to go about bringing AI to campuses and classrooms.
Doctor Paul Carlsen, Lakeshore Technical College President, said they hope to learn from experts in Northeast Wisconsin and the entire state when it comes to AI.
Dr. Carlsen also noted, “When we’re all talking together, learning from one another, and challenging each other we’re going to produce a better product, ultimately.”
He went on to say, “And the hope is that we start thinking, internally here at Lakeshore Technical College more than we already have, how can we take what we’re learning about artificial intelligence and add more value to our community.”
The Event had more than 20 speakers and touched on a wide range of topics.
These included ethical standards of AI, designing lesson plans with AI, and steps on how to move forward in the age of AI.
One of the biggest takeaways of the conference and its speaker’s messages was that they believe this wave of AI is here to stay.
They also feared that those who “wait and see” on AI may be left behind.
Luckily, Wisconsin has the help of AI companies like Microsoft, a global AI powerhouse, and New North a leader of AI in Northeastern Wisconsin.
This is allowing Wisconsin to be one of the states championing the integration of AI and higher education.
