A Manitowoc-based food organization continues to support the area’s local non-profits.
Lakeside Foods announced yesterday that more than 300,000 pounds of in-kind food donations have been given to groups like the Grow It Forward, Peters Pantry, the Manitowoc Salvation Army, and Feeding American Eastern Wisconsin.
In volume, Lakeside Foods says it equates to more than seven semi-truck loads of canned and frozen vegetables and meats.
CEO Joe Yanda says Lakeside Foods is committed to supporting the community through philanthropy and employee volunteerism and that they are focused on doing our part to address food insecurity faced by families in our area.
The company has a special partnership with Grow It Forward, supporting its weekly food box distribution with multiple pallets of canned vegetables, providing seeds and horticulture consultation to its community garden team, and sponsoring its Empty Bowls fundraiser last November.
Grow It Forward CEO Amber Daugs (DAWS) says her team is grateful for the support as it’s a match made in the field of dreams.
