Manitowoc County’s congressman in Washington says three bills passed by the U.S. House of Representatives offer key conservative wins.
Sixth District Congressman Glenn Grothman explained in his weekly update that the bill, which funded the Department of Homeland Security, State Department, and Department of Defense, included significant policy changes like enhanced border security, immigration enforcement, and strict oversight of foreign aid expenditures.
Some of the highlights in the bill include the Department of Homeland Security getting $600 million for continued construction of the border wall while also rejecting funding requests made by the Biden Administration that Gorthman says “encourages more illegal migration.”
The State Department gets about $3.3 billion to go to Israel while strengthening national security to combat the flow of fentanyl into the country.
Lastly, the Department of Defense allocates over $833 billion to combat readiness while providing 4.5% pay raises for all military personnel.
Grothman says he was proud to vote yes on the bills because “we are taking a firm stand on the principles of law and order, personal responsibility, and limited government intervention.”
