Kenneth Paul Oswald of Manitowoc passed away unexpectedly on June 24, 2024, at the age of 82.
On October 2, 1941, Ken was born to the late Lester and Hildegarde (Bleser) Oswald. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1959.
Ken married Barbara (Miller) Oswald on February 27, 1960, and they were married for 64 years. They lived in the Oswald family homestead farmhouse for 50 years before moving to town. He retired from the Mirro/Newell Company as a time study engineer after nearly 40 years of employment.
Ken was a family man who adored his wife Barb (Toots). He was a strong father figure who helped raise three children. Nothing lit up his face more than his seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was a man of few words, but stories from his younger “heydays” brought many laughs to those who were around. Ken was often found watching football and NASCAR with a toothpick in his mouth. He enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards (especially sheepshead and cribbage), and liked country music. Willie Nelson was at the top of his list. Ken and Barb did a lot of traveling and spent much time up north. The extended family time in Minocqua was a favorite vacation for the Oswald families.
He now lives in the hearts of his loving family and friends. Ken is survived by his devoted wife, Barb; his children, Debra Carey (Larry), Renee Kinsel, Kevin Oswald (Kiara Crowley-Oswald); Debra’s children, Megan (children Titus, Tyson, and Bibiana), Ryan and Tim Carey; Renee’s children, Lauren (Ryan) Meaney (children Lennox and Hewitt), Ashton (Emma) Beck (child Elodie); Kevin’s children, Kieran and Fiona Crowley-Oswald; brother Tom (Barb) Oswald; in-laws, Don and Vicki Schmidt, Nubby and Audrey Miller, and Barbara Miller; and his feline buddies Zoro and Zoey.
Ken was preceded in death by Craig Kinsel (son-in-law), David Schmidt (nephew), and in-laws, Milan and Bee Miller and Bruce Miller.
Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th St., Manitowoc is assisting the family. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
