A Manitowoc teenager remains in custody at the county jail on several child sex charges.
Bail for 17-year-old Maruilio Mares was set at $10,000 cash in a court hearing Tuesday, and as of this morning, he remains in the Manitowoc County Jail.
Mares has been charged with three counts of Sexual Assault of a Child and two counts each of Repeated Acts of Sexual Assault of the Same Child and Incest with a Child for incidents dating back to July of last year.
Police received a tip from the DOJ and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alleging he had uploaded seven videos of child sexual assault material to Snapchat.
When confronted, the Mares admitted to having sexual contact with “at least three victims under the age of 12.”
As a part of his bail, Mares is to have no contact with anyone under the age of 16, neither victim nor their residences, and possess no internet-enabled devices.
His next appearance is set for July 8th at 1:30 p.m.
